Why convert VTT to SRT?
WebVTT is the standard for captions on the web, but many video editors, media servers and players (VLC, Plex, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, most smart TVs) expect SRT. Converting back is simple: renumber the cues and switch the millisecond separator from a period to a comma. This tool also skips WEBVTT headers, NOTE blocks and cue identifiers, which are not valid in SRT.
SRT vs VTT in one minute
Both formats describe the same thing: timed text cues. SRT keeps numbered blocks with comma timestamps and nothing else. VTT adds a mandatory WEBVTT header, period timestamps, optional cue identifiers, and support for styling and positioning. SRT is the safer pick for editing software; VTT is the required pick for HTML5 <track> captions.
